Everyone enjoys a really good quality coffee, but most only tend to buy one when they are out.  Coffee shops and restaurants make fantastic coffee consumed by coffee addicts daily, but there is nothing stopping you from making the same quality coffee in the comfort of your own home.

Start by buying a quality bean.  All our single origin coffees have been carefully chosen and are medium roasted to perfection.  Take a moment to read through the profiles that have been provided and ensure what you are buying appeals to your palate.  Buy smaller amounts to begin with and try a few different coffees until you find one you love.

An interesting fact is that roasting causes chemical changes to take place as the beans are brought to extremely high temperatures and rapidly.  When the peak of perfection is reached, they are cooled quickly to stop the process.  A green bean smells grassy and is spongy and soft.  Only when a bean is roasted does it smell like coffee and become crunchy to bite.

The worst enemies of coffee, once roasted, are moisture, air, light, and heat so it is extremely important to store your coffee properly.

If you are a regular coffee drinker then store your beans or ground coffee in an opaque airtight container.  It may be a good idea to divide your coffee into smaller portions and keep the batches in a dark cupboard away from heat.  This is most important when buying pre-ground coffee because of the increased exposure to oxygen.   Do not ever store your coffee in the fridge as coffee absorbs moisture, odors, and tastes from the air around it since it is hygroscopic.  It is best to buy beans and grind your coffee as you need it.
